As regulatory approval for staking inside ETF wrappers becomes more likely, institutions are buying optionality \u2014 positioning ahead of a potential yield feature that Bitcoin simply cannot offer. Second, Ethereum&#8217;s deflationary supply mechanics: EIP-1559 burns ETH with every transaction, meaning higher network usage reduces circulating supply. Bitcoin&#8217;s scarcity is fixed; Ethereum&#8217;s is dynamic and demand-linked.<\/p>\n<p>Bitcoin ETF adoption is also at a more mature stage. Institutions that wanted BTC ETF exposure for portfolio diversification largely bought in 2024. The incremental buyer for new BTC ETF positions is more price-sensitive and quicker to redeem in a down market.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_CLARITY_Act_Collapse\"><\/span>The CLARITY Act Collapse<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>On September 15, the CLARITY Act \u2014 a bipartisan bill that would have clarified whether crypto assets are commodities or securities \u2014 failed to advance through the U.S. Senate. Bitcoin dropped 3.3% on the news; Ethereum fell less sharply. The market&#8217;s read: Ethereum&#8217;s regulatory status as a commodity (CFTC jurisdiction) is already settled, while Bitcoin&#8217;s broader policy environment is more sensitive to legislative uncertainty. That asymmetric reaction reinforced the ETH-over-BTC positioning already underway.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_This_Means_for_Thai_Investors\"><\/span>What This Means for Thai Investors<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Thai retail investors can&#8217;t directly access U.S. crypto ETFs through SET \u2014 \u0e01.\u0e25.\u0e15.&#8217;s consultation on that framework closes September 20, and even after a positive result, product availability is realistically 12\u201318 months away. But the institutional signal is worth reading regardless of whether you can buy the ETF itself.<\/p>\n<p>For Thai traders on \u0e01.\u0e25.\u0e15.-licensed exchanges like Bitkub or Gulf Binance, ETH is directly tradeable. Ethereum&#8217;s relative resilience against BTC in the current environment \u2014 holding better in a down market while attracting four consecutive weeks of institutional net inflows \u2014 supports a modest ETH overweight for risk-tolerant investors with a 6\u201312 month view.<\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t confuse a sector rotation within crypto (BTC ETF outflows, ETH ETF inflows) with a broad crypto bull market. Both assets can fall together in a genuine risk-off event. The rotation story is about relative performance, not absolute direction.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_to_Watch\"><\/span>What to Watch<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The \u0e01.\u0e25.\u0e15. consultation closes September 20. Any positive language in the resulting framework about ETH&#8217;s classification for Thai fund products would matter for domestic institutional adoption.
